Meits is on a composing spree again. With his remake of the Solid Snake Intro still wet, his latest output is another piece of music from this famous Konami stealth game; "Advance Immediately". Like his earlier intro remake, Meits has used his "cross composing" method again; a hacked MBWave serving as tracking tool, controlling his Roland JV1080 and XV5050 modules to get the right sound.
The original SCC music was of course from Konami's late MSX era, where sound and style were leaps beyond Konami's early SCC music. Technically it was in the same league as SD Snatcher, Hideo Kojima's other tour de force on MSX. But was this music by Tsuyoshi Sekito actually really original? Movie buffs may recognise the inspiration for this particular piece of music coming from Jerry Goldsmith's soundtrack for Rambo 2. Unsurprisingly, both the Rambo movie and the Konami game feature the concept of the 'lone wolf' military action hero.
Meanwhile, Meits' composing spree keeps ticking and without doubt, later this month we'll see more of his works being released.. watch this space!
