The team behind FOCA (Fudeba Optimizer Compiler Assembler) released the first version of Uzix X-Utils (UXU). This set of tools enables you to access Uzix file systems from Unix-based platforms, like Linux. UXU comes with the following tools:

  • uzixfsinfo - dumps superblock information
  • uzixfsls - ls -lR of a .dsk
  • uzixfscat: file reading
  • mkuzixfs: creates Uzix filesystem
  • kernel module for Linux, to mount Uzix filesystems.

The FOCA project itself resulted in a Portuguese book with technical reference to Z80 assembly, the MSX BIOS, UZIX, MSX-DOS and hardware characteristics of the MSX architecture, published under the GNU Free Documentation License, and focusses on creating an assembler and a C compiler for UZIX. A preliminary version of the assembler is already available.

Wow,a kernel for mounting Uzix filesystems to Linux is very nice!
Too bad their documentation is all in portuguese! Sad Why can't they write english like the rest of us?! There is more than just the brazilian MSX-scene.
