Square Enix have announced they will release Final Fantasy I-II for Nintendo's Gameboy Advance. Originally released for the Famicom (NES) in 1987, Final Fantasy also found its way to the MSX computer 2 years later. The MSX version was ported by Microcabin, well known for their excellent Xak saga. Final Fantasy was very succesful at its time, but the real commercial success started with the release of Final Fantasy VII for the Sony Playstation in 1997. Now, Square Enix go back to their roots on Gameboy Advance with modernized versions of the two first parts of the Final Fantasy series.

Final Fantasy for MSX 2 was a good port, ehmm uhmmm, except for the scrolling of course. But the musics featuring FMPAC and the colorful graphics were by far better than the NES ones. What a pity that it is only in japanese. :-/

Indeed, the MSX2 version looked a whole lot better than the NES version (although the PS version is looking even better), too bad about the scrolling & the Japanese Tongue Also, it felt like the MSX2 version was harder than the PS version (dunno about the NES version)...
