Soundchip combination poll down - 60 Hz poll up

We figured it'd be time for a new poll. Prior to focusing on the new poll, let's have a closer look at the outcome of the favourite sound chip combination poll. After 60 votes, this is the result:

  1. PSG and SCC - 50%
  2. PSG and MSX MUSIC - 26.7%
  3. MSX MUSIC and MSX AUDIO - 23.3%

We could relabel these combinations "Konami", "Japanese games like those from Micro Cabin" and "demo scene". Question remains whether people have voted for the chip's musical specifications or for the fond memories they have. Or perhaps people have voted based on their own experiences while composing with all these combinations, it's no secret that the quality and feature set of a specific tool can make or break the popularity of the chip(s) it was made for. In any case, Konami's PSG-SCC combination has won this poll with an impressive margin.

And now, a new poll is here, and so we'll face a brand new curtain. One thing that can quite annoy MSX composers is the tempo difference you get between 50 and 60 Hz. They would probably just prefer to hard code one specific frequency and be done with it. People made on-the-fly equalisation routines in the past, but they aren't 100% full proof if you go beyond the classic row concept of Moonblaster and similar tools. In the past, like the late 80's and early 90's, there probably were enough MSX users who connected their MSX to a real TV, and so, these frequency selectors that were featured on (for example) the Picture disks were vital, in fact back then they became almost like mini demos in their own right.

But today is 2012, and it's not unthinkable that people - especially composers - would want to get rid of this choice, and beg "now let's do it my way!" But can we? Is this frequency choice a thing of the past by now? Can we assume no one really needs a 50 Hz mode (as some kinda contingency plan) these days? That's what this poll is about. Naturally, a project coder may decide that 50 Hz is actually required, but other than that, the poll assumes that most people would prefer 60 Hz mode.
