It's been silent for a while around MSXdev, but with little over two months left before the deadline, you can expect new games to be announced and finished in the coming months. Take this new announced entry for instance: Retaliot!

This game is made by a new development team: Video Hazard, which is formed by Madonna Mk2 and True Video: both former Matra members. You may recall two MSXdev'04 entries from Madonna Mk2: Sink King and Seleniak. The announced game is going to be a shoot 'm up, 128KB in size while requiring 64KB RAM. With these specifications it should surely become something wild!

Looking forward to see some preview of the game, although I know that if they keep the Matra style, we will know nothing about this game until published. But one cannot help begging for a screenshot! Wink

Sounds great, specially if it follow these rules:

1) No more horizontal shmups. I prefer vertical scroll, specially in a computer that can´t display more than 4 sprites per row.
2) More powerful weapons. Peashooters suck.
3) Don´t make a game where you lose all your weapons after you die. If you do it, don´t make the game impossible to proceed with basic weapons.
4) Include bosses and subbosses. I´ve only seen subbosses in Anaza Kaleidoscope Special.
5) Make sure that your enemies have different size. Why not including enemies that are 2x1, 2x2 or 1x2 sprites too?
6) Use parallax scroll (tip, like in the NES game Gunnac). I don´t care if its 8x8. Wink

Said that, considering that now MSX developers have cool tools like Pletter or PT3, this game can turn into a masterpiece. Big smile

I don´t like Seleniak... but its intro tune (although short) really rocks. It sounds almost like an FM-PAC. Smile
