1,000,000 visitors on the MSX Resource Center

Today, MSX Resource Center proudly welcomed the 1,000,000th visitor since August 6th, 1996. Yes, you have read it right: Only six months after we reached 500,000 visitors our Nedstat Counter registered the millionth visit to our website. We are pleasantly surprised to break this barrier this soon afterwards. When we introduced our first dynamic website in may 2000 we would never have thought we would reach one million visitors this fast. The introduction of the 'new website' in December 2002 gave a huge boost to the amount of visitors to our website and their contributions to the contents of our website.

The MSX Resource Center staff would like to thank the entire MSX Community for their endless support to the computer system we all love. In the past years we have seen a significant increase in the activity of MSX hardware and software developers. Without their activities there would be little to report about. You are all doing an amazing job. Keep up the good job (and keep reporting to us about it!). We also would like to thank all people who actively contributed to the contents of the MSX Resource Center by submitting news, downloads, links, reactions, comments and/or forum posts. And of course, a big thank you to all the people who visit us and 'just read the news' as well. Thanks!

Note that "1.000.000 visits" would be more accurate than "visitors", since you're counting page views, not unique persons. Still, it is a remarkable milestone.

We´re not really counting page views. Netstat doesn´t log the same ipadres for about 10 minutes. A while ago they measured once per hour. So, true there is a little more logged than unique visitors, but it´s not that every reload is measured.

It's even more accurate Smile Snout coded something in the bottombar to prevent reloading of th nedstat code. He only shows the image + link when you are referred from msx.org (and thus in the same session), or else the whole thing so that it counts a visitor. So basicly, the icon counts unique visits, nothing more, nothing less... Smile

So, unique sessions is closer than unique visitors than simple pageviews. We´ll keep it unique visitors. ;-)

and, yes, there IS a small bug in this code and, yes, I AM aware of that. Btu still it doesn't count every pageview. (Which are millions in just one year)

like:
- where do most visitors come from (country)
- how long do the average ppl stay
etc.

GuyveR800 : Ah, so you were the nasty person that almost kept me from capturing the 1000000 foto!!! You were pressing Refresh so many times that my program almost missed the capture... I had to fumble with the cache to even get the data out! Nedstat even refused to show the page when we hit 1.000.000... I think you'll be charged with DOS attacking by Nedstat soon Tongue
