On the Game Preservation Society YouTube channel an interview with Japanese developer Yūichi Toyama has premiered earlier. He talks about his career as a professional game coder, including some well-known MSX titles.
In the video, the Game Preservation Society is joined by game programmer Yūichi Toyama. During the interview he tells about his first childhood experiences with video games, his early work as an amateur programmer, and his memories of working on games like Techno soft's Herzog and Feedback for MSX, and other titles on other platforms. As a professional he joined Techno soft and Compile, before moving to Tokyo to work on arcade games.
Nowadays, Yūichi Toyama has retired from coding games since he felt he wasn't able to compete anymore. Especially the turn to 3D game development eluded him. In this video he looks back on his career and tells his personal story. He talks about his MSX period a lot.
Have fun watching, all 30 minutes of it are worth it.
