Cas Cremers, known as the founder of Parallax Software, has announced at his Twitter account, that all Parallax games are now considered freeware. That means, you can play, copy and distribute them freely. A great gesture, which also guarantees that these significant Dutch goods will be preserved.

If you're not familiar with Cas Cremers, or Parallax software, a good way to read up is this interview.

Parallax Software has brought some solid game titles to the MSX scene, mostly MSX2 based with MSX-Music. A good mix of top-down action adventures and layered (or parallax, yes there's pun in that) side scrolling action adventures. Each follow up improving on graphics and, most notably, technicality.

One of the returning themes of the later Parallax games are big animations added with fast scrolling. While using hardware sprites and static screens was the thing to do, Cas did his utterly best to make sure to squeeze out every bit of the MSX to have large moving objects on screen. Every new game release was typically even more impressive than the last. It's a shame their master piece Core Dump never seen the daylight...

Have a look for yourself at the list of released, and now freeware, MSX games from Parallax:

All these are now freely downloadable from the MRC software database (click the title to download). Have fun!

Thank you very much for these great games, Cas! Back in the days, I bought and played Black Cyclon a lot! Never finished it unfortunately... And I hope I have some time in the near future to try all your other games!

Excellent News, Thanks Cas.
About AKIN long time ago I hear it can be Installed and played from HDD (I think was Manuel Pazos) I'm not talking of using Software FDD emulator like. I just want to know if it's true or false?

Yes, there is a second edition, where I believe it can be copied into a folder and reproduced from an HD.

Is there anyone who has Magnar running from the Megaflashrom or another HD/Memcard/usb device? I cant seem to run the diskimages with sofarun or runit.

In Nextor disc emulation only opens the home screen, I believe the problem is the MemMan used in the game.
