The second entry to MSXdev'14 is an MSX adaptation of the TI99/4A version of Sierra Entertainment's Jawbreaker II by Maggoo and Makinavaja. Clearly inspired by Pacman, the game utilizes large sprites and a more simplistic, yet moving maze.

Funny and cool game. Big smile
And to think that the original (?) game only had sound effects (except for Mozart's Turkish March upon game over), these guys managed to squeeze some just as funny and cool music - title as well as in-game - as the game itself into those 48K.
The Sierra version appears to be using songs like Gay Paris and Hall of the Mountain King, but there's no question about it that I prefer the music of this new MSX version. It sounds good, seems to be original, and fits the game better than anything that's used in the old versions.

I like the different effects in the enemy animations with each level, and how their X-axis movement patterns get more freaky.
I don't know how and why, but I have a thing for this game. It's probably the definitive version and it's great that this version happens to be on MSX. :)

Regarding the gameplay: nothing to complain about the controls, but I seem to fare a lot better on 'EASY' (thanks for the choice, guys).

Is this in any way related to "Smack Wacker"
or "Mr. Jaws"
for MSX?

Mr Jaws is just an MSX port of Jawbreaker. Smack Wacker is clearly a variation on it Smile

Thanks for the review John. Indeed Smack Wacker and Mr Jaws are unofficial "ports". I only discovered those recently... At least they are now exactly the same! Not that it took me that much time to make, but still it would have p**** me off if the same version had already been made Smile

BTW, the Colecovision should soon have its own version too:
