MSX IPS Patch Archive maintainer BiFi updated the archive again again with new patches. IPS is the International Patching System, a common way to represent changes between a normal and a patched ROM or disk. In this update the Maze of Galious screen patch was fixed, Space Manbow has a new patch for V9958 equiped MSXes and Sorcerian was patched to run on more MSX2 machines. Also Diskview received a bugfix.

Full changelog:

  • updated Maze of Galious screens fixes patch
  • updated README.TXT of Golvellius English translation to the latest
  • added Diskview 2 fixes patch. Patches 2.0 to 2.1, fixes 'more' after changing dirs and 256 root entries fix
  • added Space Manbow V9958 Y-adjust fix patch, doesn't change the Y-adjust value of the screen anymore when using V9958 equipped MSX computers
  • added Sorcerian Program disk fix patch, allows the game to run on more MSX2 machines

The MSX IPS Archive has some great patches, but they lack some README file to explain better what each one does.

For example, what's the advantage of the Space Manbow Y-adjust fix?

And Sorcerian? What was the bug, and which machines were affected?

the answer to the space manbow fix question is in the whatsnew.txt

- added Space Manbow V9958 Y-adjust fix patch, doesn't change the Y-adjust
value of the screen anymore when using V9958 equipped MSX computers

But is changing the y-adjust a bad thing? Does that improves the game somehow? Results in less flickering, maybe?
