Soon you can follow the adventures of the last surviving Vampire Killer of the Belmont family in the form of an animated series of Castlevania on streaming media service Netflix. The first season is scheduled to have four 30-minute episodes and will be a globally available Netflix Original series.

According to producer Adi Shankar (Power/Rangers, Dredd, The Grey) the mini-series will be a dark, super violent animation 'in the vein of Game of Thrones' and will most likely be based on the Konami classic Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse. It will follow the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.

Working on this animated series are executive producers Adi Shankar, Kevin Kolde (Adventure Time, Frederator Studios), Fred Seibert (Frederator Studios, last president of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon studio), and author and comic book icon Warren Ellis (Red, Hellblazer, Transmetropolitan).

Yup. Well, at least thanks to Nintendo, we have a glimpse of what Vampire Killer on MSX could have sounded like with SCC:
This is from the Japanese version of Castlevania III, which included the VRC6 chip. It kind of functions like an SCC, enhancing the native NES sound channels with two pulse wave channels and a sawtooth channel.

Of course, it's called Castlevania... MSX had only one installment (dubbed Vampire Killer in the West) and remember that the (Japanese) NES release actually predates the MSX release by a month.. ;-)
And, as mentioned in the news post, it seems he based it on Castlevania III. (So I guess it would be the most appropriate if the cart inserted is actually Castlevania III, but I'm not sure which cart it is.. some reproduction?)

Talking about VRC6 (and Castlevania), there's the VRC6 Castlevania series remakes by Yone2008, some nice tunes in there:

VRC6 Arrange Castlevania Series Medley Remake Vol.1
VRC6 Arrange Castlevania Series Medley Remake Vol.2

And there's some more for the MSX lover as well (recommended!):

Gradius 2 beta - Flame Planet Theme (aka "Blazed Up") 30th anniversary commemoration project (Original MSX version)

  F-1 SPIRIT 3D SPECIAL - VRC6 Arrange -

Hmm.. I just realize that Yone2008 is actually the YT channel/moniker of VRC6 arrange fame shimoine.

Anyway, a lot more (MSX & Castlevania) stuff over here: Shimoine's VRC6 Covers.
Those 'collections' are actually all Konami covers.
