Ever had music during the credits/menu?
I have never heard music in the slot select menu, no...
Thank you so much for this video! The problems are spotted very quickly. There should be music in the options as well as in slot-select. Now, I really wonder if there is anyone out there with a similar machine where this works? I have only access to openmsx and no issues there of course :/
Can someone confirm that it works?
Credits? You mean the end of the intro, where your name stays on screen until the bgm finishes? Yes, music there. And in the intro itself, also music. What is the menu? The title screen where you can select Play or Help? No, never music there...
There are two options at the start screen: one is playing the game, the other is the options/menu/credits, that long black screen with scrolling text. Should have jazzy music there.

I've been using this turboR GT daily for more than 30 years now. Without any issues The machine itself is just fine.
This could be due to many things... The way it behaves is like upper parts of the FlashROM is volatile. All music (70%) is placed at the end of the ROM.
@latok Do you have other games of this size (1-2 MB) that works well?
I redownloaded v1.2 and flashed it. To make sure the file wasn't corrupted.
Problems are still there.
I must persist saying that if I do a quick view in the help section or a quick click through the slot menu, the game runs with normal music. But when I stay in the help section longer, or in the slot menu, then I sometimes hear some random FM beeps, sometimes I don't, but THAT'S when something crashes and results in in-game corrupted music....

Ah, yes, it could be the MFR.... Interesting thought, as I indeed almost never load rom images this big... Do you know of a rom image I could use to test?
Is it possible to manually load a ROM into a different corner of the flashram, to test the RAM quality there? Just to rule out that the RAM is faulty...
The slot selection music and options music are last in the ROM, indicating (immediate) issues higher up. I can make a special version for you which, at runtime, can checksum the rom-contents. I'll have to head out for some hours, but I'll get cracking at it when back.
