For .VGM music you do not need a turbo CPU, since it is an I/O log format. You do need sufficient memory to contain the song data though. See VGMPlay.
The .AY format contains replayer code that needs to be emulated which is not very easy to do on an MSX, because of the emulation you need a more powerful CPU. The Zemmix Neo’s turbo mode is not as fast as the turboR’s, but maybe it’s fast enough, best to just try it out! See RoboAY.
