I know that my SVI 728 has a mechanical switch that prevents inserting a cartridge when power is on. There has also been optical solutions in some Sanyo's. Can we try to collect the in this thread so we can update our wiki?

Alle Yamaha machines have this, as well as the Victor machines (well the HC-5, HC-6, HC-60 and HC-7/HC-7GB do)

Toshiba HX-10.

TBH I thought it was on all MSX but dropped in the MSX2 standard.

Interesting. Never knew about this. Will have a look at my 728 how this works. Good luck with collecting data.

Yamahas CX5M/503/CX7M/503II/503III/805 and Toshiba HX-10 has mechanical switch protection, i'm not aware about other computers and whether there were any optical solutions (though, there's an hole in cartridge case which i guess can be used for that... hmmmm...)

EDIT: just to be precise - i'm not aware about those other which has the protection, though - there's no mechanical neither optical protection in Sanyo Wavy PHC-23 and Wavy PHC-70FD btw, and i can't check now (sold) but it seemed like Panasonic A1WX has no protection as well

Yes, it' like Duncan said that it seems it was dropped by the MSX2 iteration.

Gr8bit also has power protection on cartridge ports as an option. I have implemented it on mine.

It was never mandatory, but Yamaha CX7, CX7M, YIS604 and YIS805 machines are MSX2 and have the protection. Then again No Philips machine has this, I have not seen many Sony MSX machines but the HB-75P does not have it iirc.

The Daewoo DPC-200 MSX1 has a mechanical switch also.
And I'm guessing all its clones had it too.
