I came across this Super XGA box: www.divineo.com/cgi-bin/div-us/zz-xgabox3.html

The RGB connectors are marked G/Y - B/Cb - R/Cr which is a YUV input according to the webpage.

Will this RGB input be compatible with the RGB available on the Philips MSX2 computers?

NO, RGB is RGB, and YUB is YUB, is not the same
The VGA conector use RGB
The VGA BOX is a YUB to RGB converter, to conect YUB output (playstation, xbox...) to a VGA ( RGB input)
MSX have a RGB output , no YUB, you can not use a VGABOX Sad
I have the same problem, if anyone know the sollution, we have happy XD

Pd, Meanwhile, you can use the composite output Tongue

That's the situation right now. I am using a Geniatech TV box which accepts antenna signal, S-video and Composite and outputs to 1280x1024/60 Hz VGA with a SCART to composite RCA/Audio RCA cable.

For some reason there's no problem finding VGA boxes which accepts component video input but not RGB. Very frustrating.

Interesting device.

In the specs I read:
Input RGB Timings:
CGA: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 60Hz

This makes it usable for Japanese MSX machines, but not for European MSX 50 Hz machines, like the NMS8245.

Also in the specs:

and

576i: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 50Hz Wink

Ok, perhaps it will work, But according to the specs:

Input RGB Signals:
. CGA (15K)
. RGB Combined Sync - RGBH+V
. RGB Separate Sync - RGBHV
. RGB Component Video for 480i or 576i
Input RGB Timings:
. CGA: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 60Hz
. 480i: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 60Hz
. 576i: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 50Hz

So this 50 Hz is only for 576i, which is RGB Component Video?
I think CGA RGB is what the MSX will supply.

Oh well, Chinese specs I guess.

About this product.

Sellers confirm me that accept input in 50Hz and 60Hz

"Actually this model accepts both RGB sync on green at 50/60hz as an input and will convert to 60hz VGA output. "

Input RGB Timings:
. CGA: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 60Hz
. 480i: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 60Hz
. 576i: Horizontal 15KHz Vertical 50Hz

MSX can deliver all these signals

. 576P is only available trough YUV component video
