I've got a NMS 8250, upgraded to MSX2+ and an additional drive.
I just wanted to check something on the machine and it decided to retire oO
When I switch the power on, the drive makes noise, the screen stays black, the drive makes noise and repeat. It simply won't boot anymore.

Anyone a clue what might be wrong? There is no cartridge inserted.

Next step: now even the drives stay dead.

check voltages first. Power supply on these machines are notorious for long term failures. The diodes are your usual suspects.

If you have a scope check for extreme power supply ripple.

Haven't got the skills and tools to do that. Who can do repairs?
I also need to have Philips Music Module checked. When my slot pander fried my OPL4 and Philips Music Module were in the expander, so when I played Impact Music Disk 4, I noticed the drumkits didn't play. So I suspect the ram inside the Philips module is also toast....

So in short:
- NMS 8250 doesn't start -> need repair
- Philips Module -> need repair

I am looking for someone that can do these repairs. Otherwise its a one way trip to the garbage for these machines.

Whatever you do: there are better places than the garbage...

Where are you located? If in NL, then ask RepairBas. If in Germany, I could help.

There is a white switch (SW101) in the center of the motherboard. (left from the floppy connector).
You may have accidentally pressed it. Press it again and see what happens.

I did pres that switch. After that, the floppy stayed silent. Not thought about that. Will try. After that switch, the screen still stayed black. Normally the MSX logo scrolls up. Nothing happens.
