The "Super Bubble Bobble" you have heard of, may refer to a 'secret' mode that's in the original game (the game itself refers to it by that name). The player must meet certain (difficult to achieve) conditions to unlock this and to get the true ending.
Super bubble bobble is an arcade mode, unlocked via some input codes or dip switch: It's not a separate game.
The OG game had a myriad of sequels/spinoffs on other platforms. Do you own research if you are interested in these.
I honestly have always wondered why Taito did not port this one to MSX2! It seems like it could have been relatively easily realized. It only scrolls vertically, and the rainbows could have been done with tiles in screen 4.
