Hi to all,
a question for KDL and other guys.

What hardware could be implemented in ZEMMIXNEO with the space gained deleting features already available in MFRSCCSD ?

Regards folks

I dont have anything to add, but that is indeed a interesting question! (I use Z Neo with MFRSCCSD myself.)

Indeed, it would be nice to be able to choose the devices to install.

I really don't think that it's worth the effort to implement MFR in Zemmix and remove other features. Just to recap, basically most of the MFR features are present in Zemmix: RAM, SD reader, SCC...

The idea was to remove the functions from OCM that are also in MFR. That would free up space in the OCM to implement other functionality that MFR and OCM together don’t have right now.

It could be interesting if with the space gained could be implemented a r800, but is unlikely i think.

The only feature shared with MFR is the SCC audio. I think that remove this feature from the OCM/Zemmix core is not a good idea, because not all of the OCM/Zemmix users have a MFR.

You won’t need 2 Nextor kernels and storage devices though. And of course a trimmed down OCM core without SCC and MegaSD but with some other features may not be for everyone.

OCM/Zemmix is at 100% of capacity and it's a very complete device itself, Why to pay money for a MFR if you don't miss anything special that Zemmix can't do?

Any new feature should be addressed better in new FPGA model SX-2, that has enough space to implement new stuff.

You say " not all of the OCM/Zemmix users have a MFR"
and
"Why to pay money for a MFR if you don't miss anything special that Zemmix can't do?"

You both are right, but what if someone have them both?
For Example, I have MFRSCC+SD on my NMS8245 upgraded to 2+.
Bu I have also a spanish Zemmix neo.

i was thinking about differen firmware of zemmix neo to use depending on what kind of msx hardware you already own.

Another example. If I have SCC and FMPAC, could be possible to have a zemmix firmware with OPL4 implemented instead of SCC and FMPAC?

Something like taht...

I get your point, you are asking for alternative firmware, similar to the project that ducasp is doing for SX2, that it's apart from KdL project. Consider that starting a new fork implies a new person dedicated and every fix done in one of them should be ported to the others.

You could ask in his thread to understand if some of these features could be possible in Zemmix, but my feeling is that Zemmix project is basically closed, apart of bugfixing.
