Another thing that I would like to see in openMSX is the MP3 cartridge emulated.

Maybe the MP3 playing can be done using the SDL2 API.

Some GH issue links for cross-reference:

Knightmare Gold audio CD support #1060
Folder as Hard Disk #1061 (duplicate: #1168)

--- another one from me :)

Something like this: https://github.com/dosbox-staging/dosbox-staging/projects (if that would fit your way of working ;))

(and agree on dir as hdd ;))

- VHD games
- Support for Dungeons and Dragons game
- netplay that is compatible with webmsx including matchmaking
- midisaurus
- high score storing (mostly for own, but would like to compare to others)

We'd be happy to help anyone who is willing to attempt to implement any of these features. They're certainly not easy ones...

Christmas is over, but if we can still make wishes, I personally dream of a better debugger: Fix all floating windows problems (under Windows, it's really not practical), have a VRAM binary area viewer (text mode and sprite pattern), be able to import symbols generated by SDCC, etc. Smile

VHD and MIDI-Saurus would be awesome but AFAIK there's not enough documentation for this. So someone could at least tackle a reverse engineering project for them, to help the openMSX team.

My wishlist would be modest. Only well documented hardware:
- Z180 on the HC-90/HC-95
- Light-pen emulation (Sanyo MLP-001)
- Internestor-compatible Ethernet cartridge (whichever is the easiest to emulate)

The ROM database is used primarily for mapper auto-detection. What benefit would a DSK database have?

I reckon it could be handy if the emulator showed game info and whether it is a known good / bad dump.

That could help to lower the proliferation of bad dumps, e.g. there are 4 different copies of Psycho World on a certain website and I have no idea which is the correct one, and probably neither does the site owner so he just shares all the different copies he could find.
