Well original price of a product (or even it’s cost price) don’t define it’s value at a certain point in time. An example is the $100K someone paid for a sealed Super Mario Bros. cartridge.

What does define value or price is supply and demand. You cannot buy this slot expander new anymore, it is only available second hand. So supply is low (that drives the price up). Then again demand is also not very high, mainly because there are some incompatibility issues (mostly tolerable imho and all slot expanders have some incompatibility issues) with this expander and because there are alternatives available at lower prices. All of which drive price down. Ultimately it comes down to someone looking for this specific model and seller and buyer striking a balance between these ‘forces’.

Also valid points indeed.
For me it is too steep, it isn't like a product that became a relic or is wanted allot. Too bad, cause it looks nice.
