You missed the very first sentence of the chapter. If you purchased the ready-made cartridge, you don't need to upload the firmware and BIOSes. The only thing you need to do is to copy necessary files to the CF card on your PC and run SofaRun. This is the easiest way to get started.
There's the CF card image with all necessary files (except ROMs - you need to download and copy them to your CF card yourself) available for download here:

There's also the tool to write the image onto the CF card. After all is done, your Carnivore2 will boot to MSX-DOS2 after you press Space or Esc in the Boot Menu. Just type SR and press Enter. This will run the SofaRun that can start any ROMs on your CF card using Carnivore2. If that is also difficult for you, you need to get help from a friend who has some experience with Carnivore-like devices.
Hi Alexey, thank you for your reply!
With your hints (and after complete reading of your user's guide!) I managed to get the carnivore2 started: Flashed some ROMs with the C2MAN tool... Next step on my list is to install SofaRun.
Thank you (and others around RBSC) for this fantastic hardware. The moment that I played my own in-dev game "Alien Attack" on a real MSX: Unbezahlbar!
You are welcome. If you used the CF card image file, the SofaRun is already there. Just type SR and press Enter. We decided to create the video guide on how to get started with Carnivore2. Should be ready in October.
I downloaded the CF image file. Extracted the .img file successfully, but when trying to mount the file in windows I get the error "The disc image file is corrupted". Meanwhile, I downloaded the img. several times. Am I doing something wrong?
Dit you use the USB Image Tool to install the image on the CF card?
You do need a Compact Flash card which is big enough for the image.
Then use a program like Rufus or Balena Etcher to flash the image to the CF card. Do not unpack and copy files.
That IMG file is ok.
Got it working now. Many thanks for the support!
Received today in California, it works great! I love the menu background music
I've re-install my cart with the img file, with help of the rufus program, I recomment to use this image file. Works great now.
