For those of us who are unfamiliar with this product, what can it do that a MFRSCC can't do?

If you want compare a MFRSCC 4Mbit and an ESE-SCC 4Mbit mounted both using a Konami cartridge, both are similar in functions, the ESE-SCC can be used to load games using ROMLOAD for example and other soft, according software used maybe you could find some differences between one or another cart, ESE-SCC is know also like ESE-DISK, you can put msx-dos inside cart and prepare multimente and other tools needed and make an image of that, to load or save it again inside the sram, there is some aditional japanese software for ESE-SCC that i couldnt test for now, but if you want compare ESE-SCC with a tradicional MFRSCC i can tell that maybe the best feature in ESE-SCC is that is more fast writing (in SRAM) than tradicional-common MFRSCC. Another extra features builded in the cart is that if you use an Msx2 enhanced turbo machine this cart is more compatible because use internal 3.58Mhz oscilator, then SCC sound is ok at Turbo Speed (8Mhz tested) and still you can get advantage of the Turbo speed on that games compatible with Turbo. Also have a pseudo-stereo out for SCC.
ESE-SCC is like-similar a Megaram and not, because is built with SCC and Megaram dont use SCC, also uses SRAM instead DRAM.
Like ESE-SCC uses SRAM, to allow that the games writed in the SRAM remains written on it, the cart use a battery of 1F. intalled inside, then when switch is ON the game for example remains in SRAM when the cart is not conected to MSX, the OFF position is to allow write in the SRAM when MSX is turned on, if you boot the MSX with the switch in ON, the game boot up after turn on the MSX.

When i get some free time i´m planning make a tutorial for basic use, and also i have to try more software available for ESE-SCC, most of them from japanese sources.

Here an example using ROMLOAD with Turbo at 8Mhz:

Interesting product. So with games that used SRAM such as Xanadu for example, it could be played when flashed to the ESE-SCC?

Don’t think so. Firstly Xanadu uses a different mapper type (ASCII8SRAM8 vs KonamiSCC). Also, assuming the ESE-SCC works identically to the Konami Sound Cartridge, the SRAM is not configured to be writable while the game is running, as that would interfere with the bank selection.
