And a Beer that supports DOS2/Nextor would be even better.
My beer is very supportive of DOS2/Nextor
It's a bear in shorts.
And here is the link to Russian forum who someone called PVV wrote:
I disassembled the code of version 1.9, and brought it to a readable form using the source of version 1.8, I think the heirs of the author will not mind this, and began to understand how FAT16 works. There are incomprehensible moments in which I do not understand why it was done this way, are there any objective reasons for that, or simply the author did not have time to finish it ...
I have another version with the code a little more standard. (HDDROM19.asm file)
You can download it at the temporary link here.
I successfully assembled the Rom with this version.
I arrived late to the party...
Did anyone manage to download the file "HDDROM19.asm" in time?
It would be nice if we had a nextor driver for beer ide ...
MSX-DOS2/Nextor needs ROM with mapper. So even if a driver exists someday, you will have to make/get a new Beer.
not a problem for me
all my hardware is homebrew, including the beer (speaking of computers...not drinks)
You probably could remove the rom from beeride. And make another mapper rom cart? Would that work?

The rationality behind the Beer IDE (hence its name) was to be "cheap as beer". But it's an inefficient design because of this.
Adding more hardware would make it more expensive to produce than a Sunrise IDE, and it would still be horribly inefficient.
Better invest your time to build an SD-Mapper v2? It's very cheap, supports Nextor, card hot swap and is the fastest mass storage interface available for the MSX.

Yes, it's cheap but can be expensive depending on where you buy it. The price can vary by a factor of two.

The price should be about the same, and effectiveness depends on the driver. Currently, there is no driver.
