D-Tail, the Nishi-proposed 100$ single-chip has nothing to do with the One Chip MSX that we're currently trying to get produced.
I know about his project @ MIT, but the One Chip MSX was intended to be a cheap piece of machinery as well. Check Nishi's Q&A from Tilburg 2K1. Bottom question on that page. Probably a typo --Q: What will be the price of the one chip MSX?
A: From 15/20$ to 10$Which I think should be from $15/$20 to $100. But in any case, el cheapo.
[edit]
Think I misinterpreted your reply, Latok, but in any case and as far as I understand, the OCM setup was initiated by Nishi. Related to his lecture in 2001, he mentioned some of its feats, including the target price.

If the last effort of MSX Association still fails than MSX will die a slow death.
I agree. The worst of all is that OCM is a really good idea; instead of a new MSX built upon a non-modifiable architecture (which probably is, like Z380, or will be obsolete) you get a customizable MSX to "play with". It can't be more in accordance with MSX philosophy!
...and a whole community supporting the MSX, but hey, that's not important.
Yes, but that's not enough for me, I'm a nonconformist
D-Tail, I just believe Nishi doesn't give a fuck about the ESE One Chip MSX and it certainly isn't the device he has been thinking and talking about for more than 5 years now. I agree, the 2 projects running next to eachother are a bit confusing, to say the least.
Actually, the OCM is quite a lot related to the plans Nishi released in Tilburg 2001. It's a 'step in between'. Of course, in more than 4 years time, the plans have changed quite a bit. It wouldn't be a good thing if they hadn't. If you want to have an idea of how the plans currently are, please have a read at the Nishi's 2005 lecture, which clearly shows where the OCM stands.
Well the one chip msx is exactly the MSX ESE project , it has just been renamed .
The pcb looks exactly the same.
I believe the ocm chip msx was initially not an fpga+ board but a dedicated IC
that contains all the MSX for, potentially, 20$ in high volume.
As you know... ESE MSX has beed updated

Makes me kinda wonder...
*the OCM is not really made by msxa/ascii
*MSX Player is just a ported fMSX
I almost get the idea they don't want to, or simply can't develop something themselves...
I read this off the MSX association website via Babelfish
New! 2005.08.29
"1 tip/chip MSX" (the tentative name) in regard to merchandising the news
From the corporation ASCII way as for 1 tip/chip MSX where sale was examined, reaching up to the necessary reservation quantity, from the ASCII way we decided sale in not being done.
In the MSX association it continues and it starts doing the conference of affiliated each company concerning merchandising 1 tip/chip MSX.
So far in the one which reservation it receives, for a while make wait it means to do, but concerning merchandising in order to be able to obtain the good result, so far it starts be sure to endeavor above.
Furthermore, so far mainly with the ASCII way you collected opinion in regard to regarding 1 tip/chip MSX demand,, but we have accepted even in the MSX association. For opinion we wait of everyone demand.
dont be so suprised ESE-Artists Invented the 1 chip yes i mentioned it before ascii even planned to produce 1 ch msxés in 2001......
