Hey, nice that you added such thing to wiki, wolf! Smile It will be much easier for everyone to check what music was used in that game. Smile

I thought there could be a topic, where people could tell every game which have some well or less-known tune, and it does not matter if you don´t know the original composer/artist or name of the song, somebody else surely will know, just give game´s name here. Smile Then it could be added to wiki and can be read easily from there! Smile

I suggest everybody should tell here if they suspect that some tune MAY be inspired from some record/movie/etc. There are game tunes which I am not sure if they have origins from somewhere else than computer game musician´s brain.

I can start, here are some, which came to my mind immediately.

* Pooyan (of course I have forgotten the name of that classical musicTongue)
* Buzz Off! (Flight of The Bumblebee)
* Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (Indiana Jones theme, is played in the temple, is that game´s main tune (rescue children and mine car) from the movie or not?)
* Elidon (has some well-known classical music playing non-stop)
* Elite (Blue Danube)
* SuperTripper (Beethoven´s 5th symphony)

Can somebody please tell me, is the tune from Mr. Wong´s Loopy Laundry arranged from some old song? It sounds familiar to me.

Rambo III maybe plays theme from Rambo III ???? I don´t know.

There are many others I can´t recall right now, please continue! Smile

Allow me to add a link to the wiki we're talking about: linkylink!

If anyone knows a bit regarding this subject and is certain about it, everyone can of course just edit the wiki article. Just hit 'edit', see how the other entries are done, copy those lines and change them (try to fit the game title in AZ-order). If you can find a reference to the original music on YouTube, make sure you include it!

Elidon (has some well-known classical music playing non-stop)

That's Anitra's Dance from Peer Gynt by Edvard Grieg.

Dynamite Dan has Rondo Alla Turca (Turkish March) by Mozart.

The music during the in-between demo (when you've beaten the first 6 stages) of Undeadline is based on Beethoven's 5th Symphony, 3rd movement.

Hydlide II music is a blatant rip-off from the Indiana Jones Theme.

Higemaru - final stage music NES version contains a wink to Toccata and Fugue in D minor by J.S. Bach and baroque music in general.

Thexder game over theme, Fire Hawk introduction and ending has Mondschein Sonata (Moonlight Sonata) by Beethoven.

The music of the game Zoo appears to be more or less the Mondschein Sonate played backwards.

Wanderers From Ys soundtrack contains some references to Für Elise (not kidding).

Titanic (the MSX game) music sounds heavily inspired by certain portions of Pachelbel's Canon in D.

Jet Set Willy 1 & 2 music has been discussed here.

The gallery of Cabin Times has a classical piece of which I can remember neither the name or composer.

Nor can I place the dying music for Testament. Though I'm positive it's something well-known, no-one seems to know what it is.

Parodius has lots of music referencing several classical pieces and 'evergreens'.

Ok, following wolf_'s suggestion I added one to the Wiki: this theme (after the introduction, obviously) from the ending of Fantasm Soldier Valis II has obviously been, let's say, heavily inspired by the Love Theme From Flashdance, written by Giorgio Moroder and performed by Helen St. John.

Nice topic! If more things come to mind that haven't been mentioned by other's, I'll add them too. :)

* Ink ("I wanna Be Sedated" by The Ramones)
* The Munsters (theme from the T.V. series)
* Lazy Jones ("99 Luftballons" by Nena)

* Auf Wiedersehen Monty has The National Anthems of some countries.

- God Save the Queen (U.K.)
- La Marseillaise (France)
- Deutschlandlied ((West?)Germany)

It also has at least these traditional songs:

- Tulpen uit Amsterdam
- O sole mio
- Viva España
- Zorba, the Greek
- O Tannenbaum

Please add the other traditional songs of Auf Wiedersehen Monty, I don´t remember songs´ names.

Here are some unknown to me:

* Hercules - Slayer of the Damned has two greek style tunes, can anybody recognise them if they are traditional or not?
* Peter Beardley´s International Football (this has some familiar tune)
* Matchday II (same here)
* Mask 1-3 (are these taken from cartoons? I have never seen them so I don´t know)

Films:
Deathwish III, Masters of the Universe, are those tunes from some parts of those films?
