I believe it's his son, or at least a relative. I briefly met Tomas when visiting one of the dealer info fairs, talking with Luc Sala about the MSX revival... (small world, eh?)

Dutch MSX game makers represented in the MRC download area:
Hegega, Parallax, Team Bomba, Cain, Paragon (they made Construction Craze, afaik), Arno Dekker (I don't actually know him, but his name sounds Dutch), Fony, Delta Soft, Manuel Bilderbeek, FCS, NOP, Olaf Benneker (I don't know him either), TeddyWareZ, MCE, BCF

If you're putting MSX software on the cover disk, adding an MSX emulator would be nice. Under "Articles" in the left column you can find MRC's "MSX Emulator Comparison" which shows you the most popular MSX emulators. blueMSX would be a good choice, so would openMSX (I'm one of the openMSX developers myself). The emulator comparison is only about Windows emulators; openMSX is available for other platforms such as Linux and Mac OS X as well.

Note that if you want to do it fully legally (probably a must for a magazine), you should either contact Bazix about shipping the original MSX system ROMs (I'm not sure whether they're allowed to sublicense, but it doesn't hurt to ask) or use the open source C-BIOS as an alternative system ROM. Since C-BIOS is work in progress, not all of the games will work on it. Most ROM games work, but the games in the download area are mostly disk games. C-BIOS doesn't have a generic disk ROM yet, but with some tricks I can get specific games to load. If you're interested in this, I can help you with packaging disk games for use with C-BIOS.

Wow, thanks for all the info.

Im honoured to be surrounded by so many industry professionals.

MrRudi, would you mind if I quoted you in the article with a statement on your thoughts regarding gaming Holland? I think that quoting an industry professional would add gravitas to the article.

Perhaps a sentence or two on:
"What are your thoughts on how gaming has evolved in Holland over the decades?"

"Peoples attitude to classic games."

Anything relevant to the above.

Sorry to keep posting in bits and pieces, but I have been rushed off my feet with work lately.

One more quick question:
Photographs... Can I use the ones on MRC, and does anyone have any good photos related to gaming Holland that I could use?
Any spare photos I would include on the cover disc for people to view and enjoy.

sczepaniak: Most of the pictures used in the photoshoots section were made by me, and I could contact the persons who sent in the other pictures if you'd like to use any of them.

If you send me a list of pictures you'd like to use for the article, I'll see to it that the original photographers get contacted, if needed, to get permission for publication.

Same goes for the products in the downloads section, for that matter. In most cases I still have valid contact information of the persons to which the copyrights belong.

Well, erhm, Sala is not a typical dutch name, so chances are pretty big Smile

BTW, Wasn't Luc Sala more like Luc '*-Info' Sala? AFAIK, he did MSX-Info, Commodore-Info, ZX(or was it only Spectrum)-Info etc etc... for a pretty large number of home computers.
