The Japanese multimedia and bookstore Rakuten have started gathering pre-orders for ASCII's upcoming MSX Magazine 3, stating the magazine will be released somewhere this month. Although little is known about its contents as of yet, the magazine will come with a CD-ROM with about 20 games and a new version of MSXPLAYer, the official MSX emulator. This version will include a skin changer and various improvements to accuracy and performance. MSX-MIDI and MSX-VIEW emulation are not implemented in the new MSXPLAYer, but might be in future releases.

Furthermore, the magazine is likely to contain an article on MSX in Russia and Arabic countries, written by Bernard Lamers.

As always:

"Only for Japanese residents"

no order possible if you live outside of Japan.

Yup, it doesn't happen a lot that books written in Japanese are only available in Japan, eh? Smile

/me hands Omega some patience and optimism.

I am sorry to inform you that the release date of MSX Magazine 3 has been postponed (again) Sad.

All contents is finished by now (most of it was actually finished by the end of last year), simply waiting to be published. It is now a matter of timing. There are some factors which influence sales of fanzines like this, and -according to Those Who Know- now is not a good time to carry through.

About the contents: other than the article on MSX in the former Soviet Union and the Arabic countries, this edition will also feature an article on Obsonet.

I'll keep you informed when I find out more about a new release date.
