The Hunt of The Red October by grandslam.

I bought it as it was praised on 16-bits and i didnt have submarine sim.

Ok, i could do with (simple) speccy graphics of this game but as it was a submarine simulation, one who knows even something about submarines can guess that it is vital to know depth all the time, so you don´t crash and sink your sub. That game simulated sophisticated submarine, so it was nice to found out , that there was screen which shows "a map of bottom of the sea" same way as echo-devices that cheating fishermen bastards use. BUT. It updated the screen so REALLY SLOWLY, that it made me mad, so i didnt wanted to use that anymore. And without that, it was impossible to know where bottom of the sea is. argh... anyway... game always started from same position (like in the film), and as in real life, enemy vessels sinked you in couple of minutes from start if you didnt know exactly what to do... "a bit" frustrating, i say... if that´s enough for you.. then comes the nicest part.

Game was of course cassette game. There´s nothing bad in it. What made it worse, was that EVERY TIME you died (and that happened VERY SOON), computer showed news flash about sunk russian submarine and then CLICK!! MSX turned automatically cassette motor ON, and you had to load game again!!!

Of course there was SAVE facility, so saving ur situation to tape when game was loaded saved you loading whole game again.. but still... it took a while to load saved position again and again and again... Was it really so difficult for grandslam to save game´s starting position data to MSX´s memory?!?!?!? Or was it really so badly programmed game that those variables took too much memory, so there was no memory left to begin game again from the start WITHOUT any loading.... can´t understand!!!!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRGGHH!!!!!

bring me worse game than this!!!

The worst for me is: Senda Salvaje by Zigurat Soft, but there are more in my mind... Almost all all them are spanish games: straight conversions from Spectrum to MSX, what a shame!

Aaah, feet!. I thought you were talking about meters!. (^_^). BTW MäSäXi, what's your email adress? Smile

Another bad one is "Budokan" (2 tapes). Is a really crappy fighting game!. And "Gemini Wing" is one of the worst shooters...
