fms, i would love to use fmsx on my android phone, its an Acer liquid metal, basicly same specs as many HTC/samsung phones, has 800mhz cpu, 512 rom/ram 800*480 screen etc. yet it says on android market that its not compatible Sad
There is nothing I can do about the Android Market not accepting your phone. If you figure out what exact part of the specs makes it incompatible and tell me, I may be able to fix it though.

but wouldnt it be easier to share the apk file that you supply to android market? i wouldnt know how to figure out what is causing the problem on market.

As a policy, I only distribute Android software through Android Market. I will not send out personal .apks or help each individual figure out why the software does not work for him.

Thus, your best bet at making me fix your problem would be to do as much investigative work as possible on your own and show me the results. For crashes, that would usually be the logcat output (obtained with ADB or DDMS). For Market incompatibilities, contact Google or your hardware manufacturer and ask what is going on.

For your reference, fMSX-Android has following requirements registered with the Android Market:

  • API level: 8-12+
  • ABI: armeabi armeabi-v7a
  • Supported screens: small-xlarge
  • OpenGL textures: all
  • Permissions: android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, android.permission.INTERNET, android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
  • Features: android.hardware.touchscreen

Just released fMSX-Android 3.5.8. Changes in this version:

  • No longer need to supply system ROMs.
  • Fixed file selector to keep screenshots at the same size.
  • Fixed About dialog to prevent it from reopening on rotation.

You can find fMSX-Android at the same address:
market.android.com/details?id=com.fms.fmsx

Support page for fMSX and my other Android emulators is here:
fms.komkon.org/EmuAndroid/

Have fun!

Had to implement an STDIO-compatible backend that lets you open and read files contained in a binary blob. Passed the binary blob from Java into the native code.

Just wondering: it's no problem regarding copyrights etc. to put these system ROMs in an Android app?

IIRC today version 3.5.8 was released. Got an update this very morning. I wrote a "tip" for new users last week (9/11/12) yet in the new version system ROM's are obviously not any longer required.

I still Love it ;)

Cheers!

Oops! didn't see the author's 3.5.8 update post

My sincere apologies :/
