Bas, I have nothing against you, I just don't like piggy-back upgrades, and you happen to be the most wanted serial offender Smile

Piggy-backing is the most primitive DIY technique, it's ok for people who take soldering iron in their hands for the first time, but for any half-experienced enthusiast, it's the lamest possible upgrade method, especially for dram.

dram ics consume a lot of juice, so, say, having 4x4464 chips from the vendor and adding "second floor" 4x4464 will increase an average MSX power consumption to a level, where adding cartridges (think CF-IDE, MSX Audio etc.) can make system unstable. If the system is using 4164 or 41256 chips, then the situation is even worse.

Doing same mod (128K -> 256K) by replacing 4x4464 original chips with 2x44256 chips, or better yet going to full 512K by using a single 628512 or similar sram chip will actually reduce power consumption significantly and increase stability of the system.

Almost nothing extra power needed.

The best extension without adapterprints and works with all soft- and harware. Even on 7 Mhz.
Very stabel. Never get any problems with users

Sounds like someone got sand in their vagina. Keep on doing what you're doing, don't bother learning better methods. Your customers deserve what they get. I just wish I wasn't suckered back when I was a green noob.

This thread demonstrates again why I often dont bother to read, or react on messages, on this forum.
Ending a message with 'End of discussion', dhau's response, its so silly and childish.

Copyright and legal discussions and treats, feuds, personal attacks, riots, demands on professional business practices on amateurs producing MSX items, all about a dead system with a few amateur hobbyists.
No money at all to be made on it. That is what we should have learned in the completely failed commercial revival period. MSX is dead my friends, we only have some personal fun with it.

Come on guys, its a hobby! Respect each other. Live and let live.

Have fun,

Hans

HansO is right, lets have fun with dead things! How do we call it, necrotica? ^_^

@caver99 get yourself Panasonic A1WSX and you'll be mighty happy chap. Better yet, if finances allow, get ESE MSX System 3 (or, as children of the Lucifer call it, "One Chip MSX").
