Hi,
I have a Canon V20 64K & use a Mitsumi QDM-01 disk drive & I`m trying to find more discs. It takes 3X3 inch disks with a memory medium of 2.8 inches
total capacity a/b sides 128Kb. Are these still available ?. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think it willb e hard for u to get those disks. I remember maybe more then 10 years ago i bough a package of them. I think we paid more than 500dkr (Danish Kroner) for them Sad

And the disks are slow and not working like diskettes, but its better than tape.

You can nok remove/rewrite the files, only the last file u put on the disk u can remove or rewrite Sad

CB - Denmark.

Probably not, he's speaking about the 2.8" quickdisks used mainly in computers like the Sharp MZ models. There exists QD drives for MSX; but are extremely rare and near to impossible to find media Sad

So they are basically like Speccy microdrives...

If that is the case then does this mean that he can use the disks that zx microdrive has?

No, they're totally different media, the tiny microdrive cartridges are even worse than the QD Tongue, the only point in common is that both have sequential access to a magnetic tape.

the qd disks are 2.8 - Amstrad/Spectrum (+3 or what ever) used 3" its not the same.

I remember we paied 66€ for 10 pieces of 2.8 disks back in 1990. Its very rare i think, and very damn to use.

You can only delete (alter) the last file stored on the drive. You cant copy from disk, its like tape but a bit quicker and more stable.

If you want to copy a game from disk you must load it into memory it back to the qd disk including the bsave addresses.

I think some member of my family still have a QD with 10disks and a Daewoo MSX Smile

I located a Mitsumi quick disk drive on the MSX hardware list
www.msxarchive.nl/pub/msx/photos/hardware/Mitsumi_QDM-01_Quick-disk-drive.jpg
If it is one of these drives, then getting disks would be almost impossible!
