Funny, I always played with the keyboard, so I can't really play MSX games with something else.

Funny, same here. But recently i have found out that if you get joystick to the left hand, it is more convenient to use fire and alternate fire from joystick while moving with keyboard by right hand Smile It works with those joysticks you hold in hands, like Cheetah Bug and similar.

Yes, and you run twice as fast if you use both cursors and joystick at the same time in Midnight Building. Makes the game a lot easier. :)

I'm a keyboarder too... Although I must say that the big advantage of being a joysticker is that your spacebar will have a longer, happy life.

@Meits

I agree, thats why I use joypad/joystick. I don't want my keyboard prematurely wearing out! Membranes for the TR cost a fortune and are rarely available.

A good puzzle game that uses the keyboard is Dix, although you'll miss out on some great MSX Music without a FM PAC.

Another appendix: I concur with Grauw's suggestions but would like to add "Feedback" to the shmups.
Also, are you playing Snatcher and SD Snatcher with or without an SCC chip?

For SD Snatcher (Project Melancholia Translation) I plan on using the SCC+ from the MFR, and for Snatcher I understand the translated version cannot detect the SCC+ if it’s located on the same slot as the extra 512kb ram, so I bought a Konami cart with SCC on ebay and I will disable the game and use that cart in slot 2 which I’m hopefull the game will detect. I definately want to play those games with SCC Smile

LowRes: https://www.8bits4ever.net/ has them for sale at the moment. Eric Boez’s shop also sells them but it’s going to be down for a little while longer while he’s recovering.

Thanks for that link, I'll order today!

Another keyboard player here, although as my original msx was a NMS8250 I can't handle the designs with large cursor keys (like the 8235) at all.
Completely used to pc keyboards now but I hate it when they don't support left+up+space, so I try to avoid those.

Here is list of 214 games that different MRC users nominated as a candidate for finding a best MSX2 game... I think it is quite a qood list to start from although it is missing the games from last 15 years.

Our keyboard was on the receiving end of some serious Rollerball abuse.

I have a mechanical keyboard for my pc now as I still like Pinball a lot Wink

The joystick (arcade turbo) was reserved for Hyper Sports / Hyper Olympics, that could get so intense that other objects would fall of the desk. Smile
