If you want to explore the encoder and its results try the stand alone version here
https://github.com/cornelisser/TriloTracker/issues/146
Use the last version for windows in the zip
Installing instructions are in the read me

Results are plotted in time domain and as spectrogram
You can see pitch in time and compare original vs reconstruction
You can also enable the playback
Just use -p as command line parameter

Fair enough, with the example voice samples that sounded way better than expected ... so maybe I will hack it in (somehow) to explore this feature further as well.
I am still a little skeptic in using this for musical samples, other than choir oohs and aaahs maybe, as I am afraid we end up with poor quality samples like most SNES games have and we are just simply better of not using those. In other words use with care!

You can also record single-tone synth sounds with filter effects.

Have you installed and run the stand alone encoder?
Or are you using the script in Matlab?

I managed to get the stand alone encoder to work. The sample (scc playback) previews are quite good. However, playing them in realfun 3 (yes, realfun 3 can do it too after one day of hacking Tongue ) the results are downgraded a bit.

I made a short test song video on YouTube: Andorogynus ISR voice test

Could be I am still doing things wrong... trying to play 60 Hz samples on 50 Hz or vice versa... maybe it is emulation ... maybe my coding and interpretation of the format ... I dunno.

And the "mission complete sample" I use the "gain" effect (yes, some effect can be applied in real time) to boost the volume a little and mix it with a simple sine, that makes this one sound a little different as well.

PS: not to mention real time sample visualization.

Verify if there is a PAL/NTSC mismatch: in the stand alone encoder you can use -50 to get PAL samples (or -50p if you want playback too).
BTW the samples sound fine and they mix well in the music already. Greetings! Nice test.

I've released a new beta version today.

  • Implemented envelope (enable + shape) in the instrument macro. Effect command EEy no longer needed. [TTFM][TTSCC]
  • Implemented changed envelope effect commands; 9xy and 8xy give full control to envelope.[TTFM][TTSCC]
  • Implemented auto envelope effect command Bxy. [TTFM][TTSCC]
  • Implemented selectable pitch tables; 432Hz, 440Hz (default), 445Hz (Konami) and 448Hz.
  • Implemented better register debug information (readability and added envelope value).
  • Fixed several bugs that could crash TT on real HW. But still is it not 100% stable on real HW.
  • Fixed Custom color not saved in configuration.
  • Fixed bug in configuration loading when loading older TT version config file.
  • Fixed bug in the drum editor causing corruption in the data.[TTFM][TTSMS]
  • Fixed timing of the opll writes. But still on R800 mode on real HW timing is incorrect.[TTFM][TTSCC]
