Hi Manolito,

Yes, that's explained in the SofaRunIt documentation:

===================================================================
                           Requirements
===================================================================

MSX computer with MSX-DOS 2, and 49152 RAM bytes free on the main
slot. Type "memory" on the MSX-DOS 2 command line to check how
much free RAM you have.

My guess is that your VG-8245 has only 128KB RAM. With Nextor, the "memory" command should tell that you have 16384 bytes free. SofaRunIt needs 49152 bytes to store the MSX-DOS1 ROM and save the MSX-DOS2 environment. No way to make it work with less memory.

I'd recommend to buy a memory expansion. You could also launch a lot of ROMs with that (if you have no ROM "flash device" yet).

I've added a new settings for ROMs in SofaRun: "Disable disk driver". This disables completely the disk driver when launching a ROM (like pressing Shift at boot). That was required for some games like Iligks Episode IV - The Maze of Illegus (1984)(ASCII)(JP). Of course features accessing disk will not work with this.

I have not changed the version number, just re-download SofaRun.

I tried to run Konami's megaroms with rom mapper without SCC on my FS-A1ST using internal Memory Mapper. The Roms seem to work but the keyboard and the joystick doesn't work. So I tried with /J0 option but the help is showed and the Rom is not executed.

SROM. COM crc32 is 88C4D019

In addition another MSX user say this version doesn't work at all on its FS-A1GT (using internal Memory Mapper).

Will check that this evening GDX, I think I introduced a bug with a latest change!

The problem was caused by a code overflow in a high-memory area after adding new stuff (the "No disk driver" option in SofaROM). I re-organized the memory and that should be fixed. Please re-download SofaROM or SofaRun. I've updated SofaROM to v2.2 but I'll wait for confirmation that everything is OK before making an official announcement.

It could be that this fixes too the problems on the FS-A1GT (not sure, have no GT here, and openMSX does not emulate the turboR mapper 100% correctly). GDX, when you mention "internal Memory Mapper" is that the turboR specific mapper or the "generic" memory mapper?

Well done, I tried Metal Gear and Firebird with /z1 option, it seems work fine except Metal Gear Remix v1.9. This game runs but blocks on transmiter at first message. Same on the GT.
Turbo R mapper is selected by default?

Cool! Where can I get that Metal Gear Remix, never heard of it? My guess for this one if that is has some routines to do its things, and that those routines overlaps the one used by SofaROM to emulate the Konami mapper (an option to relocate those routines could be interesting, one day...).

Do Metal Gear and FireBird work on the GT too?

SofaROM selects the best "device" available on your machine if you do not specify one. The selected device is displayed before launching the game so that you can know. If you have a turboR with no flash device, the "turboR mapper" will be preferred over the "Memory mapper".

Metal Gear Remix [v1.9].ips.zip

Apply the patch on the Japanese version.

Hi Louthrax,

Can you add Fat16 support or at least make sure Sofarun doesn't destroy the Fat16 partitions? Crying

Hi GDX,

There's indeed a piece of code that destroys intentionaly the FAT16 partitions, sorry for that. I'll try to remove this in the next version...

More seriously: please add detaaaaaaaaaaaaails in your reports! If you want something to be fixed, please give a detailed (constructive can be nice too) feedback man Tongue ! SofaRun works well here on my IDE / FAT16 patched turboR, but the reasons for problems can be multiple, I need to know your configuration, what you launched with which options, etc...

Do not expect anybody to spent hours trying to randomly fix something with a report like that (mmm.... maybe he tried to launch a .DSK image... no... mmm... maybe a ROM...no.... mm... maybe a disk that uses Memory Mapper.... ah, no again...). Here's my 2 seconds recommendation for your 2 seconds post for now: do not use SofaRun Evil !

PS: Based on your other report with graphics corruptions in USAS and MOG, I would suspect a RAM problem or something in your turboR (no way to reproduce that here, and first time a problem like that has been reported here). That could also lead to SD card corruption in some ways...

PS2: Do not get me wrong: I like feedbacks about bugs and would be glad to fix it!
