And another one: Isn't it a good idea to add *.BAS next to .LDR, mainly for AUTOEXEC.BAS files?

And a question: The GR8NET has an SCC+ on board. With some games it works great. An example: Metal GEar 2 - Solid Snake.

However, SD Snatcher it doesn't work with. Tried multiple versions. Also Snatcher doesn't work. The one difference I see is that those are ROM files while (SD) Snatcher are DSK files.

Is there anything I can do to get the GR8NET SCC+ working with SD Snatcher?

Hi Louthrax. Running Sofarun on the GR8NET now. Amazing work! Thanks a lot.

One issue I noticed is that with the SR.INI you deliver in the package the JoyMega config statements are gone so I can't select any JoyMega settings anymore. I'll try to find an old config but maybe for your next release a good idea to fix?

Yes, they have just been moved to the SROM.INI file now, you can still modify them from here.

The GR8Net needs to be configured as an SCC cartridge before launching the DSK, but if the GR8Net is configured as an SCC cartridge, you don't have Nextor anymore (so the .DSK file can't be accessed). To be confirmed by Eugeny, but this should need a firmware update on the GR8Net. Waiting for that, you'll need an external SCC cartridge.

Maybe you can do that in the [EXTS] section in SR.INI (something like BAS=%c BASIC %f). Let me know if this does not work.

EDIT: Supid me, a simpler solution is just to add this line:

BAS=*6

@Louthrax
Thanks. That clarifies. So you already asked Eugeny I assume regarding SCC together with Nextor?

I just mentionned him the current limitations of SofaROM on GR8Net. The Game Masters are also unsupported, they could be with some work but all the disk features still wouldn't work, so as the interest is limited I prefer to wait for a GR8Net update.

I have two setups both same results with sofarom:
- vg8000 stock
- nms8220 stock but w/o the designer rom

i have two modules:
- slot1: sd512 sd/mmc 512k mapper in nextor2.1 and memory mapper mode
- slot 2: megaflashrom scc+ 8mb (so old version no sd etc)

Running sofarun 3.0.
When the megaflashrom is inserted sofarun will always try to upload in default settings to the megaromflashscc+. This will not work.

1.
duckhunt.rom 8kb from msxdev site
default mode
- cyan screen and reset

works when set to "memory mapper"

2.
dr pill 128k from msx dev site
default mode
- cyan screen no reset

after manual reset system boots to dos.

when sofarun set to "memory mapper" black screen.

this game will run fine when i enter: opfx drpill.rom /x

Its hard to tell whats wrong, i think that megaroms dont work at all in memorymapper modus, and flashing to megaflashromscc+ doesnt work because of the wrong upload methode with this cart.
To get games running i type opfx name.rom /x for megaroms now and for <=48k i use sofarun in memory mapper modus.

I hope i can help you with debugging, i will need some reference roms.

Hi Louthrax,

The /Z1 option of Sofarunit (v1.6) causes an "invalid option" message on my Turbo R and the help (/H) is long but given that it does not require pressing a key to display each screen, the half of text scroll too fast to be readable. Can you fix it taking in account the display 40/80 column?

Thanks GDX, the /Z option should be fixed (just re-download).

In order to view the help, just use the "more" command in MSX-DOS2/Nextor:

SRI.COM | MORE

That works in all screen witdhs (not only 40/80 columns), and also if you have function keys enabled.
MORE.COM and other MSXDOS2 tools are available on the ASCII's MSX-DOS2 Tools disk available on Javier Lavendeira site. Of course you can also use CTRL+S to stop text display, but that's not so convenient.
