NMS 1250 RS232 conversion

A couple days ago I found this guide (dutch) for converting the NMS1250 (and other modems) to a rudimentary RS232 interface.

Being over-enthusiastic as I am, I straight away I got the parts I needed, soldered the whole thing together, and... realized I have no idea what to do with it now! I can't find the software (MOD.COM) mentioned in the guide, so far... and I have no idea how I could test this now (or even do anything with it at all).

Does anyone know anything about this at all? Or have any pointers for software to try?

This is something I still want to do as I don't have my sony rs232 anymore.
Ofcourse you already built the thing, but the rs232 connections on the Z8530 are 5V which should connect straight to one of those cheap usb rs232 converters (which I already have for flashing the gotek...).

For software http://www.funet.fi/pub/msx/utils/datacom/erix_pd.lzh should work.

Connect an external modem to it... and... nah, useless nowadays.

You could make a nullmodem cable and connect another MSX to it via RS-232C Smile Or any other RS-232C device.

My plan was to use it as a terminal for my linux server, mostly just because you can Smile

Retrieve files from PC over RS232 is a nice application I think.

Tip: if you want to soup up the upgrade with a BIOS, the Gradiente RS-232 also has the Z8530 UART. This way you'll be able to easily use it even on MSX-BASIC.

Oh, that's interesting.
According to the nms1210 manual the rs232 bios can be loaded from disk. Perhaps it will also work with a converted nms1250. It seems to use the same i/o ports at least....

A bit late, but wanted to thank everyone for all the replies! I'll definitely have to try some of these things out soon!
