Hello,

I read on MSX Generation that a rom version of Jackie Chan in Project A was made by a spanish company named Microbyte. Anyone have this rom version of this game? I couldn't find it with Google. I have the tape sold in Brazil in the 80s, I would love to have the rom version as well.

Thanks.

This one is the tape version:

And there seems to be a project A2 aswell which is a rom file. But both are made by pony canyon, not a spanish company. Was yours some kind of spanish bootleg ?

I assume he is talking about this:

It was published in Japan by Pony Canyon and in Spain by Microbyte. The Microbyte edition was published under the name "Karate". I assume it was legit, since Microbyte also made cartridges for Philips Spain and Sony Spain.

Indeed, I saw on Generation MSX. Since I really like this game, I would like to know where can we find this Microbyte version. Was it dumped?

In general, Japanese ROMs resold in other countries are identical, only the manual, the packaging and eventually the case change. Only Roms sold in Korea were often modified with more or less success. Several Korea games are buggy because of these changes.

I rarely saw versions resold in Arabic countries but it seems to have parallel imports from Taiwan. These cartridges were also sold in Korea and probably in some other countries in Asia.

Since the screenshots from Spanish sites are same I think Project A released by Microbyte is same as the Ponyca version.

It's more for historical purposes we search for these roms I guess (at least that's my case). Here in Brazil we had some companies that sold illegal versions of these games, but some of them translated the game, changed the graphics, the title screen (and added a load screen)... So it is interesting to have those unofficial versions. We recovered most of them from old tapes.

What I mean is that the game is probably the same but if there is a translated version or even a little modified, this version interests me too.
