Issue making a dos disk...

Hello,

I have a problem formatting a dos disk. I used call format to format my disk, I put nextor.sys, command2.sys and msdos.sys in there and everytime I try to boot up it says insert a dos disk in default drive...any advise please? what am i doing wrong?

What diskdrive do you have? Most MSX diskdrives support only MSX-DOS1. So you need MSXDOS.SYS and COMMAND.COM on the floppy.

MSX-DOS2 consists of:

- A Cartridge with Disk-Basic 2.x
- A disk with MSXDOS2.SYS & COMMAND2.COM

Do you have MSX-Basic 2.x in a cartridge or built into your system? If you don't, it will not work.

If you don't have this, you can only use MSX-DOS1 (msxdos.sys & command.com)

I solve it. Thanks. I just flashed msx-dos 1.8 from file-hunter..problem solved. Thank you all for your replies and attempt to help me!!

I am addicted to that cartridge more than msx game cartridges ahahahahhah

I think no need to flash the msx-dos 1.8, Rookie Drive NX use Nextor. You can boot on MSX-DOS1 by pressing the 1 key during the MSX start up and so to format your floppy disks for MSX-DOS1. You can even boot on the USB FDD by presing D at start. (Not sure if this key corresponds on all keyboard types.)

Rookie has many usage options, Nextor kernel is one of them and it won’t work on a 64kB machine (of course DOS1 will still work with FAT12 partition). But the Rookie can also be used with disk images emulating a floppy drive.

i think Nextor works on 64kB machines using disk or partition formatted FAT12 (up to 16M) without folder.

No it does not, DOS2 and Nextor require 128kB. Nextor’s embedded DOS1 kernel runs on 64kB (but I would hardly call that Nextor, it’s just DOS1 imho).
