I bought a Neos MS-10 box. To my surprise Cheese was on a cartridge not on tape. This is not Cheese 2. Was that common?

No, I have not seen it before. Could you post some high-res pictures of the back of the box? If possible scans of the front and back would be great.

Does it mention any other letters after the MS-10 somewhere? There is also the MS-10X and MS-10Z for example.
Is there a price on the box (in Japanese Yen presumably)?

Found out what you have is the Neos MS-10R

It was released late in 1985, and does not seem very common.
