At least the scroll could be similar; but I'm afraid the moving objects would suffer badly when ported to MSX2, too few color and too much flickering Sad

Is it possible to play SWIV with 2 players simultaneously? If so, how?

Let me know if you find more missing games.

Another game that should have been released on MSX: The Last Ninja 2. Very nice 3D graphics! Graphically the C64 could be beaten, imho.

Composers: hear that impressive music!

Sure gfx could be more detailed and coloured on msx2. not so sure on msx1

This C64 game looks great. Why wasn't something similar ever made for MSX2? Does it take an MSX2 to beat a C64, which is 3 years older?? I feel kind of bad when thinking about this.... At least the graphics of MSX1 can't beat C64 when looking at this game... (I guess the closest to this is La Abadia del Crimen.)

As far as I know The Last Ninja 2 (which is probably better that its predecessor and successor) is one of the best C64 games ever made. C64 graphics seem to be a bit blocky, though. The first tune of the game is really impressive.

Blocky? It's very very colourful at least. Everything has multiple colours and the screen looks very good. The only disadvantage is the long time it takes to build up the screen (it reveals how they manage to keep it all in memory).

Yes, C64 graphics are blocky (on YouTube this is less perceptible). Just take a look at other screenshots from C64 games. About not being released on MSX, System 3 was a British company which means -in most cases- no MSX version or direct port from ZX Spectrum.

But look at the big colourful characters moving... Quite smoothly and more than one colour (OK, mostly 2)... The little boats are moving nicely as well.

main charater (and enemy?) could be done also on msx1 at the same level of smoothness.
enemy could be monocromatic sprites.

the real problem are background gfx.
the c64 uses a mode that allow 4 selectable color per 8x8 cell, paying the half of x resolution.
while msx1 screen modes allow more colors in a single 8x8 cell, the limit of 2 colors / 8 pixels make things harder.

However results could be better than the abadia del crimen for msx1 IMHO, if a good use of tiles is made.
