[RANT] The Maze of Galious

Hi,
I played the game (Maze of Galious), and I finished it many times. In my opinion, it is one of the greatest games on the MSX ever.

However, I still have this sore feeling because of two spots in the game. I never could pass them without reading hints from the Internet. When I originally had the game back in 1988, I got stuck in World 5 with the part you have to cross the water. I never got around it until after I got connected to the Internet and saw some hints for it.

So, I am posting this to ask the people who passed the game without any hints (well... there must be at least ONE of you out there!! ). How did you know how to pass these spots?

World 5: The pool of water... basically you have a huge pool of water with no way around it. The solution is to keep waiting and waiting for rocks to appear
World 10: How were we supposed to know that we need a cross to kill Hamalech?
Castle : How were we supposed to know where that cross is? I mean, the only hint was a little weird artifact that happened in the room beneath it (because of the secret corridor), but I always assumed it was a bug in the game!

So, for people who could get any of those by themselves, could you please tell us your stories? How did you get it? How much time did it take you? Any interesting stories?

I love listening to those stories So, feel free to explain every little clue (or conincidence) that led you to solve these parts!

I did finish the game, and yes it's one of the greatest gems on MSX.
How did I pass the hurtles? hmm, dunno. it's like playing a cool Japanes RPG without any English hints... darn, how to.. well, just try and try, seek and try again.

First, the dude you're supposed to kill in world 10 is called Galious and the spell you need to type in that room is hamalech.
Second, the manual states the cross has a vital role in the game, which is one of the clues for you to figure out you need it to kill Galious.
Finally, you can also kill Galious with mines and exchanging between Popolon and Aphrodite after you set them off yourself.

Do you know how to get the oar? I cannot get the ladder that leads me to the place where I can get the oar. Please let me know how to get that. There are eight aliens in the room before the place where i can get the oar, each one has a color, and there is only one flying around. I think I need to get rid of these aliens to be able to see the ladder, I don't know how to get rid of them.
Can any body help me with that please?

Check the useful link in my previous post. And for the enemies in that screen: you can't get rid of them, so all you can do is avoid them. You do need timing to pass them, but it is possible.

Hmmm.. BiFi, I was just checking out your link above and I noticed you state that ceramic arrows can be used against Worlds 1, 2 and 5 bosses. If I remember well, those bosses were immune to ceramic arrows. I am sure about world 5 at least.

Verified, and you're right... Corrected them. Does seem kinda strange as the Ceramic arrow has way more power than the normal one...
