Finally I beat that furry boss from the third stage, damn it was hard! LOL!
But the troubles just seem to begun as the next bosses are equally hard or even harder. I guess this game has the most hardest bosses I've ever encountered on MSX game (or even other platforms), beating the bosses of Xak games f. ex. I could not imagine anyone playing this through without using the continue option many times.

Now I tested the game with one Japanese joystick (Mitsubishi's one), and it miraculously worked, even though the joystick was bad and didn't work on the left side - but nonetheless worked still.

So to the conclusion:

European joysticks (I tested Arcade Turbo and Tac-2) work with european MSX2 (not tested the japanese joysticks here), and japanese joysticks seems to work with japanese MSX2(+), not the european ones. Kind of weird, since I haven't ever encountered anything like that ranging just to one single game.

Propably bad programming combined with non MSX joystick (Atari compatible)... If you don't want to patch the software then try to take wire from joystick that is currently connected to pin 8 and reconnect it to pin 9 instead.

The problem didn't seem to appear with the Turbo R. I don't know if it's specific to Panasonic A1-WX or was that particular computer somehow defect. Sadly, I don't have it anymore for further tests.

Isn't MSX supposed to be a global standard ??? LOL!

You mean, a hardware + software standard? If the software doesn't respect the standard, why would the hardware behave as expected? Smile

Tested today on my WX and have the same weird joystick behaviour. In rare instances (power cycle, reset) joystick works as expected... maybe bad coding (not using bios routines) or because wx uses a z80b that have a clock turbo mode of 5.xx mHz

All other games works fine with joystick, including Arkanoid with paddle (wich don’t work on sony xd/xdj)
