I think the reason was that tiny characters with stripe-eyes were more Konami's style at the time Tongue

Sloth was bald and with pointy ears. I am sure that it Konami developers could make a sprite look like him. I guess that there was a mistake in the manual, not in the game. Wink

If that was so, then how could he save the seven goonies? Tongue

In Goonies II on the NES, the main character is Mikey, one of the Goonies. It's very well possible that's also the character in the MSX game (and the first Goonies on NES, which I believe is another different game)... Sloth indeed seems kinda unlogical.

Now I wonder what the Japanese text says...

Good point, I should have noticed in the old days that the player couldn't be one of the Goonies, since all 7 were trapped. Maybe I was too much connected to the game in the earlier days to notice this small detail. Smile

Now I wonder what the Japanese text says...

Beware! I'm not a full-fledge japanese reader nor translator, but I've tried to make some sense of the first/top three sentences (it's good practice for my japanese-for-beginners class Wink ). This may even be worse than a babelfish translation. You have been warned, now here goes:

redai futtoo!! eiga de onajimi no GOONIES ga MSX ni toujou da.
(redai?) boiling!! The movies friend of the Goonies is apearing on MSX.

toraware no mitonatsuta 7-nin no goonies wo gyangu no tekara
the imprisoned (mitonatsuta?) 7-people goonies (wo?) gang's (tekara?)

tasukedasu honkakuteki adobenchaa
help from trouble genuine adventure.

Couple of loose words I thought to recognise:

futtou: boil/rise
eiga: movies
onajimi: friend/aquaintance
toujou: to apear
toraware: imprisonment
7-nin: 7 persons
gyangu: gang
tasukedasu: help out of trouble
honkakuteki: genuine
adobenchaa: adventure

The movies' friend of the Goonies? Well.... I don't know the movie that well (only from reading about it), but that DOES sound like Sloth.
(or maybe you're playing as Cindy Lauper? Tongue )

What about the older brother of mikey? He wasn't in the group (of 7) but was trying to find them (on the small bike Wink )

I have the movie on DVD... Sloth becomes friends with the goonies.. so why can't the player be Sloth? And the text says: it's the Goonies in troubles AGAIN with the Fratelli Gang...

It's just another storyline.. nothing to do with the story from the movie.. just a plotline around the characters from the movie...
