I can't figure this text out. It is a text said by an old man in one of the houses in the first level. The guy gives you 'hints' if you pay him money. In the first level he doesn't give much useful hints though.

Perhaps someone can make something out of this?

Any help is appreciated!

as you stated ANY help, this is my effort:

{longest link ever}

It says something about a dwarf but I can't really make any sense out of it..

The first sentence says 'that girl's cute' (in dialect). The second and third one read 'kankan ranran hwan hwan'. I wouldn't know how to translate that. I am not even sure about the transcription of the last two words. But I get the idea it's some kind of 'joke'; doesn't seem to hide any important information. Didn't do any research though and I don't know the game either.

Maybe last 2 reads: Juan Juan

They looks like onomatopoeias, "kan kan" seems to be something like "a lot of" or "so much", "ran ran" is rain falling onomatopoeia (not sure); but "hwan hwan" looks like chinese here...

@rataplan: thanks but no there are no dwarves in the game, though most enemies are smaller than you.

Thank you Rikusu for the help so far!!! Unfortunately I'm certain about the transcription, since they aren't typed but extracted from the game. So either they made typos or this is the actual text.

To be absolutely complete I can post the other messages he gives you, though I doubt they are interrelated:

[hex code for amount] こ”~ると”はらうかね。
Question if you will pay to get his hints basically

hint 1

hint 2 (the one mentioned above)

hint 3

hint 4

farewell message asking to say hi to grandmother

About the cute girl: only one I really think that can be is either the fairy you need to save or a girl in a house up ahead. Or is he near sighted and is he referring to you? That wouldn't make sense because of the anoko part right? This old man is the very first character you meet in the game, so there shouldn't be much context to take into account.

Anyway any further help with that text (hint 2) is highly appreciated...

It would be funny if it said:

The girl a few doors down is pretty cute, why don't you talk to her? Tongue

or

There is this lovely girl, why don't you talk to her?

or

Although she's fat she's cute

or

The girl is cute, a fat guy like you can't have her

Tongue

Judging what is being said the hints can be taken with some margin.. so why don't you just make something up that is relevant to the game if the translation doesn't work out?

Rikusu -- "The Girl's" is not "the girl is"

kankan ranran seems to be referring to someone getting angry or a "fiery" personality? (see 爛々)
"The Girl's" is not "the girl is"
it's not?

"dear woody. Sorry for my late response, I've been working a lot lately.
How are you doing ? it's been so long since we last talked to eachother !
Well, I don't know if you heard about it, but we moved town a couple of months
ago. My husband and I are now both working fulltime in the bakery.
But not for long, I will be working less in october, because we're getting a baby !
How is everything with you and clara ?"

something like that ?
