That's a nice-looking MSX! Does BT1 socket mean RTC will be possible in this one so file time stamps can be correct without requiring manual or NTP synchronization each power-on somehow? Or will RTC still require more circuitry that isn't present yet?

Thanks! Yes, the board has an RTC with battery backup. At poweron the FPGA bootloader will copy the current time and date to the (virtual) MSX RTC so MSX will have the current date and time.
The FPGA code for the RTC is not fully done yet...

So in the end the SM-X / SX2 is not a big improvement compared to the original OCM / Zemmix. It could be interesting for new users, but I don't think it is worth it for those who already have OCM / Zemmix.

bigger FPGA will be useful once new implementations/firmwares are available

Which will come once this sm-x/sx2 becomes more common.

Well I look forward to getting an SX-2, I have an OCM and a Zemmix Neo but I like what HRA is doing with the OCMkai and those improvements will come to SX-2 through KdL (from what I understood).

If SX2 is able to run MSX Turbo R, I'll buy without doubt. Let's wait for news Smile .

Really the old OCM / Zemmix are not so far to be a full functional Turbo R. They have same VDP, Z80 with R800 Multiply operations running at 8,06Mhz, PCM, MIDI...only missing a faster Z80 to have a "Z80 based Turbo R".

What? There is pcm and midi in 1chipMSX /zemmix clones????
And the r800 commands? Time to break out my 1CM thenWink

Thank you.
I'm currently designing the R800 clone, but at a slow pace.
Currently, I am developing the DE0CV as my target. However, I plan to include SX-2 as a target in the near future.
The old Cyclone/CycloneII lacks FPGA area.
Therefore, I am targeting DE0CV/SX-2 with CycloneV/CycloneIV.

This is really cool! Any chance it might work in the Cyclone V of DE-10 Nano/MiSTer too? I realize that it isn't a dedicated MSX computer board, but it still does well running an MSX core

I think it will also work with DE-10 nano and MiSTer.
The R800 clone does not use any devices specific to DE0CV or SX-2.
