Recently I noticed that I´m a forum member since almost ten years now.
Of course there was a long period of just lurking around and also a lot of real life challenges that kept me away from being more active here.
Now, since I´m able to spend more time and the possibility to integrate this hobby to my profession, it´s a lot of fun with you, the MRC community.
I don´t wanna tell old stories over and over again (like older men like me like to do) when there are so much new impressions nowadays.
One great incident happened a few weeks ago, when we (for all I didn´t told more than five times: I´m working with former homeless people) were invited to help in a repair market, organized by the local community. We were asked to do bicycle repairs, other people and neighbours fixed broken chairs, sewed broken clothes, repairing PCs and so on. I could´t do other, than bring my Casio MSX to the PC repair booth, expected a lack of understanding. But the man sitting there was evidently astonished yelling „Hey, that´s an old MSX! I´m a musican and use a Yamaha now for thirty years to make music.“
As it turns out, there are two more MSX enthusiasts around in Stuttgart leftover the last three decades. Holger is the manager of a computer training center near by Stuttgart and donated us a older PCs and an CBM 8296 the next day (which you may have noticed on MSX.PICS).
Besides improving our photographer skills and keeping our projects going, the next undertaking will be assembling a GR8BIT, but therefore we got to enhance our soldering skills. One of our 8280 and a Video9000 waits for time to repair, too.
There are also a lot issues of german MSX magazines to be scanned and filed.
I also would like to organize a meeting in Stuttgart, for all of the newbies here around this would be a great experience. But this is future talk.
So far, I wanna thank all of you for having a great time here, especially the admins of MRC for supporting this forum!
We photographed a lot of computer since last summer, so I did a compilation of screwed MSX machines which I will maintain with new entries in the future (for example the solid build 8280 series, which seems to get the final weight exclusively by the amount of installed screws).
