Manuel, you should put that on the wiki page instead of putting it here.

I don't feel comfortable enough to make changes myself to the Wiki, but:
1) When I was trying to find easy-to-read info on the PSG registers for writing sound effects in ASM, I didn't find that information within the Wiki from the PSG page. That information is on the Wiki, but under the BASIC SOUND command entry. Would linking this information to the PSG page make sense?

These two would need to be verified on an SVI-3x8 before adding to the Wiki. I don't have an SVI so I cannot test this myself.
2) SVI-BASIC vs MSX-BASIC. I understand CLS works differently -- it would also hide all sprites on SVI but not on MSX.
3) SVI-BASIC vs MSX-BASIC: One program listing in Mikrobitti (11/86) for "MSX, SVI" has docs that say it uses an escape sequence inside the PRINT command to change to reverted characters (in screen 0). These strings would appear to be CHR$(27)+"p" for reverse and CHR$(27)+"q" for normal characters. I didn't get this to work on MSX-BASIC (in emulation), so I'm making a wild guess this was originally an SVI program. Again, not something I can verify.

Ok for the link to SOUND instruction.

About SVI-BASIC: I must check for CLS, but I can confirm it for CHR$(27) + p/q: it has been 'forgotten' in MSX-BASIC, so the switch inverse/normal characters needs to use another trick on MSX.

About CLS: I've found confirmation in an Australian magazine. You need to switch to SCREEN 0 (and optionally go back to SCREEN 2 or 3) on MSX to make the sprites disappear while CLS is enough on SVI-3x8 to do that.

Hi,

The official typography of the MSX turbo R is... MSX turbo R. Smile
This is the way it is written on the logo, on advertisements or on the internal software.

Do you agree that I correct the typography on the wiki?

I always write MSX turbo R but it is systematically replaced by MSX Turbo R, often a few minutes later. However this is not really important.

MSX Turbo R is the most used name in Europa, although the official Japanese name uses lowercase for the part indicating the main feature of this computer type. Using uppercase has some sense as it is not an anecdotic feature.

Besides, I don't understand why some precisions added by Retrofan in 2013 (then removed by the same contributor) have been removed - https://www.msx.org/wiki/index.php?title=MSX_Turbo_R&diff=53...

They give an additional explanation about the uppercase preferred in Europa for the main feature:

"Only Panasonic was brave enough to put faith in the standard once again, by releasing two different models: the Panasonic FS-A1ST [ST stands for Standard Turbo] and the Panasonic FS-A1GT [GT stands for GUI Turbo]. MSX turbo R computers were produced until 1994.

According to this site (http://matsun-ri.cocolog-nifty.com/blog/2012/04/msxturbor41-...) Panasonic was developing the FS-A1BT [Business use Turbo], but the project was cancelled and it never was released. It should have 1MB internal memory instead of 512kB for the GT and 256kB for the ST. Furthermore, it should have 2 diskdrives, RS-232C and V9978 videoprocessor. Retailprice was to be 128.000 Yen."

Here the archived version of the mentioned Japanese page: https://web.archive.org/web/20130728230645/http://matsun-ri....

Other contributors have also asked that the same expression would be used everywhere in the wiki, this for coherency. It explains why texts are corrected, when this coherency is forgotten.

I imagine that you carried out a survey all over Europe and confirmed this with statistical tools on the web.

The rest of your explanations are unrelated.

Unrelated?

ST stands for Standard Turbo
GT stands for GUI Turbo
Unreleased BT = Business use Turbo - but Aucnet NIA-2001 seems to be a step into this abandoned direction

Btw, new link to Japanese review: https://matsun-ri.hatenablog.com/entry/2021/04/01/000000

The BT is an April's joke, but the rest of the review seems me correct.

Even if the Europeans "preferred" another graphy (which I find difficult to prove), I don't see how this justifies that a reference site like MRC does not simply use the official graphy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That said, it's not a big deal... if you prefer it that way, so be it.

/me going back to programming.
