I just read something about replacing the diskdrive with a 720k one.
Where can the replacement rom be obtained needed for this mod?

And another question is, could I install an 1,44mb drive and make it act as a 720k?

Do you mean VG8235 ? As far as I know the 8245 is correctly named NMS-8245 and it comes with a 720k disk drive... And it should be the first of the NMS series, isn'it ?

Smile

Assuming you mean a vg-8235 ?

Repair-Bas has diskroms to replace your ss one with a ds one.

The diskdrive itself should be altered/setup to be an a-drive (ds0).
Depends on brand and model how to adapt it to MSX.

yeah I meant 8235 (the one that comes with a 360k one)

I have some spare 1,44MB drives for my pc so I was wondering if I replaced the disk rom if these could be used.

yeah possible. you need to get one with the switch to disk ready. if it does not have that its not msx compatible.

Well, you are lucky as the vg8235 doesn't use the ready signal. Also you don't need to change the drive to DS0 as you can just swap DS0 and DS1 in the cable.
And you will need to rewire the cable anyway...
Some more changes are needed though. See here for the 8235/00 or here for the 8235/20
They are in Dutch though...
And you can see in the pictures, the ready signal on pin 34 is not connected.

Cool!
Now all I need is that rom and I will build a converter print instead of rewiring the cable and I will be doing the 720k drive modification Smile

Thanks for all the info.
