>>This system requires a memory mapped ram system to function properly and in most cases MSX1 has no support for memory mapped ram whatsoever, meaning the initial mapper blocks aren't set up the way MSX2 and later does.<<
I hear Padial's latest mappers auto-initialize to MSX2 defaults, so they can be used in MSX1 without problems!

Well The trial I made was with padial 's mapper .

Oi!

There is a dos 1.xx-clone made by a russian that supports directories. Don`t remember the name, though, but it works on MSX 1.

Maybe MISIX ?

If I recall correctly, the MSX-DOS 1.x sub directory support consisted of a small patch program to enable the trick on a disk and some command line tools to make, remove and change directories. I may have it somewhere, though never tried it since I got MSX-DOS 2.x already.

Misix might sound right.
Anyway, it worked in just the same way as Dos2 dir`s.

That's what I remember too.

I just checked my personal FTP site and it seems I've put it online. It's a backup from a quite large bulletin board system of which I was a co-sysop for the MSX section, so the file is still in .pma archive format.

I does not work with me when typing CHDIR/MKDIR commands a strange string appears:

"NO <strange symbols , i think should be japanese with kanji irom>"

I guess something is missing , the msxdos.sys and command.com are the 1.03 since
they are not in the package. The setdir.sys files contains a list files , it does not look
like a binary file also. Since I dont read dutch the help file is a bit hard to use for me...

Maybe some tsr or file missing ?

First you have to run Label.com - Type Label followed by a name for the disk
If you do not run this first it does not work!

Now you can create dir's

hmmm.... strange that you have to label the disk first. I wonder where this limitation comes from.

IT's been a long while since we heard from Jon de Schrijder. I'm still thinking several of the improvements for the Sunrise ATA-IDE/CF interface would be very nice to implement. Maybe the time has come to see if someone else can take things over? (Or get Jon de Schrijder back in action, preferably?)
