Hi,
the Yamaha SFG-05 works fine with the Sakhr AX-370 via adapter.
But trying to use the YRM-104 or YRM-504 FM Music Macro Cartridges produces a black screen even before any MSX start screen appears.

Any ideas? Would like so much to program the SFG-05 with the Music Macro Basic extension...

Many regards,
Mork

Do you have tried with the computer booted in international mode? You need to press CTRL until you hear the first beep.

I don't know what these cartridges have on their circuits and I am not sure if they try to use any of MSX circuit components related to FM music. I can tell you that AX-370 misses a lot of components related to the FM circuit unlike Sanyo Wavy 70FD that already have these components installed. If you open the AX-370 you will notice many empty places on the FM audio circuit like a place for YM2413 chips, some resistors and capacitors in addition to an inductor, and there is a link cable that is also not there between points A to A, and B to B for the same FM Circuit.

Do other carts work in the same slots? Have you tried cleaning the slots snd the connectors on the cartridges?

@alali.ahmed.t: The Yamaha system uses another music system than the standard FM (MSX-MUSIC):

- Yamaha = OPM or OPP https://www.msx.org/wiki/SFG

- MSX-MUSIC = OPLL https://www.msx.org/wiki/MSX-MUSIC

Yes, the cartridges are using the Yamaha SFG-05 module, no FM on board circuits.
Even without the SFG-05 module they produce on a MSX-1 system a message, that the module is missing but you can work on.
Other modules are working in the same slot and the cartridges are working with a MSX-1 system.

Hmm, the machine just showing a black screen, not even hanging after the boot logo, has me puzzled. I almost think it is an electrical issue of some sort. Is the power light on when the screen is black?

Thank you for the information.

Would anyone who owns Sanyo Wavy 70FD give me a picture of the front PCB board showing the inductor L105? I need to install this one but I don't it's value. a clear picture of that area of the board will be enough for me to get the value.

@sdsnatcher73: yes, you will not even see the boot logo it turns directly after a short pixel blink on the left down corner into the black screen, but the power on led is on and you can also switch the reset button.

Update: also Uridium by trilobyte on a 27c512 does not work with my AX-370 - causing the black screen described above.
Because it´s written in the Wiki, that some modules won´t work with the AX-370 - does anybody know if there is such an issue with 64kb-modules on the AX-370 ?
